2021 Ford Explorer
If you're in the market for a new three-row SUV, you'll enjoy learning about the well-rounded 2021 Ford Explorer. This mid-size design features a sleek and sporty exterior, a comfortable interior, and plenty of bells and whistles that will please drivers and passengers alike. While the on-sale date for this exciting new Ford Explorer hasn't been announced yet, it is anticipated to arrive during the second half of 2021. Luckily, lots of information about what the 2021 Ford Explore will offer has been released.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This sleek and sophisticated SUV has a touch of sporty and dynamic style, thanks to its bold black grille, lowered front hood, and longer wheelbase. Crisp, clean lines give this SUV so much visual impact. Choose from five exciting trim levels, which are Base, XLT, Limited (also available in a hybrid), ST, and Platinum.
Engine (Power)
This 6th-generation Ford Explorer packs plenty of punch under the hood. When you choose a Base, XLT, or Limited trim, you'll get a 2.3-liter V-4 engine that provides 300 horsepower. If you want more power, go for a Platinum trim equipped with a 3-liter V-6 motor. Another option is an ST, with a 3-liter V-6 engine that delivers 400 horsepower. Since 2020, a hybrid has also been in the mix, which includes a 3.3-liter V-6 engine, plus an electric motor. With the hybrid version, your Ford Explorer will provide 318 horsepower.
Performance
With the right available add-ons, a 2021 Ford Explorer is tough enough to tow 5600 pounds. 2021 Ford Explorers will feature rear-wheel-drive platforms that are completely new. These platforms promote enhanced towing and handling performance. However, drivers have the option of selecting all-wheel-drive if they want to. On all models, there are 10-speed automatic transmissions. The ST trim offers a little more muscle, thanks to a stiffer suspension and additional power.
Interior
A range of interior updates will add style and functionality to the 2021 Ford Explorer cabin, including a new windshield design that makes it easier for drivers to park. Consumers may also anticipate an updated dashboard with an 8-inch touchscreen. In higher trims, larger touchscreens may be offered, such as 10.1-inch vertical designs.
Up to three rows of seating for passengers is provided, with impressive headroom and accessibility. With just a touch of a single button, you will be able to move second-row seats away, which will make quick access to the third row simple. The SUV will seat six to seven people. It is roomy, so it's an ideal vehicle for any family.
Safety Features
A range of standard and available safety technologies will give you greater peace of mind on the road, including anti-lock brakes, stability control, front-impact air bags, overhead air bags, knee air bags, side-impact air bags, and seatbelt enhancements called pretensioners. Pretensioners tighten seatbelts when collisions occur, to restrain vehicle occupants. The 2021 Ford Explorer also features a security system that comes with an ignition disable device. This device stops the motor from starting up if an authentic manufacturer's key isn't used.
