2022 Ford Bronco
After a 25-year pause, the iconic Ford Bronco line reentered production last year and became one of the most sought-after vehicles on the market. In 2022, Ford expands the Bronco family with the Raptor and Everglades but continues to offer an extraordinary vehicle in the regular model. See what the all-new Bronco has to offer.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Ford Bronco is available in six trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Wildtrak. Each comes in either a two-door or four-door body style. With the Base trim, you get 16-inch wheels with 30-inch tires. These get larger as you work your way up the levels, culminating in 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels and 35-inch tires for the Wildtrak.
At most trim levels, the 2022 Bronco measures 173.7 inches for the two-door configuration, 189.4 for the four-door. The Badlands trim, however, is slightly larger at 174.8 and 190.5, respectively. The widths vary somewhat, with the lower trims measuring 75.9 inches and the highest stretching out at 79.3.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine for the 2022 Ford Bronco is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 paired with a seven-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed select shift automatic, which can generate 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel. You have the option of upgrading to a 2.7-liter V-6 at every trim level, which can produce 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The larger engine pairs exclusively with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The 2022 Ford Bronco has four-wheel drive at all trim levels and provides precise steering and handling for the driver. Even the regular model can handle a variety of terrain, both on- and off-road. It also has a significant towing capacity, rated to handle a maximum trailer tow of 3,500 pounds.
The fuel economy of the 2022 Bronco varies depending on your engine option. The standard four-cylinder engine gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. If you upgrade to the V-6, you can expect lower fuel economy at 19 and 20 mpg, respectively.
Interior
There's a noticeable difference in the interior dimensions between the two- and four-door models. With the former, you get 99 cubic feet of passenger volume, which seats four people. The latter gives you 103.7 cubic feet and lets in a fifth passenger. In terms of legroom, you get 43.1 inches in the front and 35.7 to 36.3 inches in the rear. The cargo space measures 22.4 cubic feet in the two-door, expandable to 52.3 with the rear seats folded down. The four-door's cargo area is substantially larger, at 35.6 to 77.6 cubic feet.
You also get an excellent infotainment setup in the dash. The standard offering is an eight-inch touch screen with swipe capability, a six-speaker system, and Sync 4 software. This is upgradeable to a 12-inch screen and a 10-speaker system starting at the Outer Banks level. The system is cloud-accessible, can receive updates over the air, and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety Features
The 2022 Bronco offers safety and ruggedness. Every trim level is equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot 360 driver-assist suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alerts, a lane-keeping system, and a rearview camera.
