Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2019 Escape gives you four trim level options: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. At the low end, trims still come with important basics such as a rearview camera, LED taillights, and a tough 2.5-liter engine. In the middle are the SE and SEL trims, and they add things like a SYNC 3 infotainment system, optional all-wheel drive, fog lights, and a power liftgate. The Titanium tops the range, and for the extra price, it gives you a turbo 2.0-liter engine, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a high-quality sound system with Sony speakers, and built-in navigation.
Engine (Power)
Most trims of the 2019 Ford Escape come with a 2.5-liter I-4 engine that can manage up to 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. An option on these trims is a turbo 1.5-liter I-4. With this under the hood, the Escape delivers 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The top Titanium trim gives you a third option: a 2.0-liter I-4 engine that can manage up to 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque thanks to its turbocharger. You can also equip the Escape with a towing hitch. The Titanium has a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Performance
Ford has made sure the 2019 Escape can handle tight corners even at high speeds thanks to standard features like curve and torque-vectoring control. These electronic systems can make tiny adjustments to your wheel torque and pulse the brakes to make sure you stick to the pavement. Escape trims, other than the S, can add to this by upgrading to the available all-wheel drive. If you want, you can also enter manual shifting mode by activating the SelectShift automatic transmission.
Interior
You get a good amount of interior space for a compact crossover when you buy a 2019 Ford Escape. The cargo area has 34 cubic feet to spare, and that doubles to 68 cubic feet when you fold down the back row. Passengers also will not feel cramped in either the front or back rows. Interior features can depend on the trim you choose, but a top trim will give you options like 10-way adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, SYNC 3, and a panoramic sunroof.
Safety Features
When you get a 2019 Escape, you get standard safety features like LATCH anchors for child safety seats, seven air bags, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Depending on the trim, you can also expect driver assistance features like AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, the Enhanced Active Park Assist, and automatic headlights. The park assist feature can automatically analyze perpendicular and parallel parking spaces and back you into them without touching the curb or other cars.
