2021 Ford Expedition
The Ford Expedition checks a lot of boxes for drivers looking for a large SUV. It has a spacious cabin, a large cargo area, and a strong engine, and it also has the tech features you need in the cabin to stay connected. For the 2021 model year, Ford expanded the availability of Co-Pilot360 Assist as an option for the XLT trim, and all trims received a new wheel design. Take a look at some of the important features of the 2021 Ford Expedition.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Expedition comes in four different trim levels, and each one comes in the regular length and the longer Expedition Max. The XLT is the entry-level trim and comes with 18-inch wheels, automatic headlights, a roof rack, and an external security keypad. The Limited adds 20-inch wheels and LED taillights, and the King Ranch comes with 22-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic sunroof, and it comes standard with adaptive dampers. The top-level Platinum has an automatic suspension, and it adds satin-aluminum exterior trim elements.
Engine (Power)
All Expeditions get their power from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo engine that develops 375 horsepower, while under the hood of the Platinum, this same engine generates 400 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission has a rotary-shift knob and smoothly transitions through the gears. Rear-wheel drive comes standard for all the Expeditions, with all-wheel drive offered an option for any of the models.
Performance
The twin-turbo has the power to get this massive SUV up to 60 miles per hour in just over seven seconds. When equipped, it can tow up to 9,300 pounds, which is plenty for a boat or camper. Adding the off-road package makes it even more capable over rough terrain with driving modes for sand and mud.
Interior
Eight passengers can ride in the Expedition with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. In the back of the regular model, the enormous cargo area can hold over 20 cubic feet of gear with all the seats up, and 63.6 cubic feet of gear with the third row folded down. The extended Max models have 36 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. Every 2021 Expedition has an 8-inch touch screen display and the SYNC 3 infotainment system along with four USB ports, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The SYNC 3 system works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy connecting and access to apps. Extra USB ports for the third row are an available option, and you can also get navigation, wireless charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard in every Expedition, and every model also has the MyKey parental control system. The XLT and the Limited both offer the option for the Driver Assistance Package with lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a forward-collision warning system, pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. A blind-spot monitoring system and rear cross-traffic alert are also available along with rain-sensing wipers, front parking sensors, and a surround-view parking camera. An automatic parking assist system is an option for the higher-level trims.
