2021 Ford Ranger
The 2021 Ford Ranger is a durable and capable pickup for any lifestyle. This mid-size pickup adds a few changes to available appearance packages and color options to the new model year. Here's what you need to know about the new Ranger.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The new Ford Ranger comes with two body style options, SuperCrew or SuperCab, and the choice between a short five-foot bed or a long six-foot bed. You can also select any of three trim levels, starting with the XL. This base trim comes standard with16-inch steel wheels, front tow hooks, black bumpers and door handles, and automatic halogen headlights and daytime running lights. Upgrade to the XLT trim and enjoy 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels, a power-locking tailgate, body-color bumpers and door handles, fog lights, and a carbon black mesh grille with a silver surround.
The Lariat is the top trim option. This supreme model includes 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with stealth-gray pockets, power-folding heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and automatic LED headlights, fog lights, and daytime running lights.
Engine (Power)
Every 2021 Ranger model comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that combines with a 10-speed automatic transmission to supply 270-horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the trim level and tow package option, the pickup will tow about 7,500 pounds and handle up to a 1,860-pound payload.
Performance
Ford is offering the 2021 Ranger with either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Along with a highly-capable four-wheel drivetrain option, you can add an FX4 package that includes a specially tuned suspension, off-road capable tires, and a locking rear differential. The four-wheel-drive models also up the ground clearance to 8.9 inches for better handling on adventurous terrain. Choose the available Terrain Management System for optimal performance and four different drive modes ideal for specific terrain like mud, snow, sand, and others.
Interior
If you opt for the SuperCrew cab option, you'll enjoy a roomier interior with seating for up to five people and four full-size doors. In contrast, the Super Cab option seats four people and features half-size rear doors. Standard interior niceties include a Wi-Fi hotspot with capacity for up to 10 connected devices, front-row bucket seats, and a smart-charging USB charging port. Upper trims come with several conveniences like dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and available heated leather seats.
In addition, Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system provides easy smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This system also includes an 8-inch color touchscreen, Applink, voice-activation technology, and two smart-charging ports. To enjoy premium sound quality, opt for the available Bang & Olufsen sound system featuring 10 speakers and speed-adaptive volume control.
Safety Features
Standard safety features like forward-collision warnings with automatic emergency braking provide an extra pair of eyes on the road ahead to help avoid accidents. What's more, advanced trim levels come with automatic high beams, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. Adaptive cruise control is also available to help you maintain a safe following distance between your 2021 Ranger and the vehicle in front of you.
