2023 Ford Escape
The Ford Escape is an ideal crossover SUV for drivers looking for a smooth and comfortable ride on the road. It has a spacious cabin and an abundance of features and technology designed to make any drive fun. For the 2023 model year, Ford redesigned the Escape's front end and wheels. The SUV's technology also received updates, and the trim lineup has new names. Here are more details about the 2023 Ford Escape.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Base Escape comes with 17-inch steel wheels and LED headlights. Step up to the Active for 17-inch alloy wheels and chrome trim elements or the ST-Line for 18-inch wheels, roof rails, and skid plates. The ST-Line Select has LED fog lights, while the ST-Line Elite has 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, and upgraded front accent lighting. Choose the top-level Platinum for 19-inch wheels and a hands-free power liftgate. If you have the plug-in hybrid version of the 2023 Escape, it comes with 18-inch wheels and a power liftgate.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Base, Active, and ST-Line comes from a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine that produces 180 horsepower that works with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The higher trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and come standard with all-wheel drive. Eco-friendly engine options include a 2.5-liter hybrid and plug-in hybrid, which generate a total system horsepower of 192 and 210, respectively. Both hybrid options work with a continuously variable transmission and come with front-wheel drive.
Performance
The Escape provides a smooth and comfortable ride on the road. The base engine is fuel-efficient yet strong enough for daily driving in town and on the highway. Upgrading to the turbo four-cylinder boosts acceleration. It will zip from zero to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. The plug-in hybrid is a good choice for electric-only driving. It will go up to 37 miles before switching to gas.
Interior
The 2023 Ford Escape has room for up to five people. The Base comes with cloth upholstery and a height-adjustable driver's seat, and the Active adds a power-adjustable driver's seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. You'll get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel in the ST-Line Select and above, and leather upholstery is available as an option for most trims.
Technology in the Escape starts with an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A 13.2-inch touchscreen comes in the plug-in hybrid and the Platinum.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Ford Escape comes with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver aids. It includes a forward collision warning system, automatic braking, a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keep assist. It also comes with automatic high-beam headlights and pedestrian detection. The plug-in hybrid, ST-Line Elite, and higher trims add an adaptive cruise control system, evasive steering assist, lane-keep assist, and rear parking sensors. The ST-Line Elite also adds a 360-degree surround-view camera system, rear automatic braking, and front and rear parking sensors. An automated parking system is optional for most trims.
