Ford unveils two powerful trucks for the 2020 model year: F-150 and F-250. Both trucks are powerhouses with several engine options, high performance gear for on and off the road, and a a blue 2020 Ford F-150 Platinum at Rochester Ford in Rochester, MNplethora of safety features to ensure your safety. The Ford F-150 and F-250 are both available in six trim levels, giving you options to suit your lifestyle. For either model, choose from the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, or Limited. While both trucks have a wide, aggressive stance and chrome accents to add to the sporty appeal, there are several differences that stand out as well.

Power

Both the 2020 F-150 and F-250 are available with three different powertrains, depending on the trim. The F-150 is available with a standard 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine that gets 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. A 3.5-liter EcoBoost is also available and gets 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Lariat trim has a 5.0-liter V-8 engine under the hood as standard equipment, but a Power Stroke turbodiesel and EcoBoost V-6 are also available. The engines in the Ford F-150 are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The F-250 comes standard with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that gets 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift. A 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo engine is also available and gets 300 pound-feet of torque. If you’re looking for the most power, look towards the 7.3-liter V-8 engine, which gets an impressive 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The 7.3-liter engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with selectable drive.

Performance

Both trucks are fully capable of hauling your trailer of tools to the work site or boat to the lake. With the twin-turbo V-6 engine, the F-150 can haul up to 13,200 pounds. If equipped with the standard V-8 or V-6 engine, you’ll be able to tow up to 7,000 pounds. The F-250 can tow up to 13,300 pounds. All trims include a trailer-brake controller as standard equipment, which gives you better control when towing heavy loads.

If the back roads call to you and you want to spend the day off-roading, then opt for the available Tremor Off-Road package for the F-250. This package includes 25-inch maximum-traction tires, a 2-inch front-end lift, 18-inch matte-finished black wheels, and a shorter air dam. You’ll have 33 inches of water fording and 10.8 inches of ground clearance with this package.

Safety

Ford is known for safety and the company doesn’t skimp when it comes to active and passive safety features. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver assistance safety features is standard in several 2020 F-150 and F-250 models. The system includes six main features that help ensure you are safe while on the road. Features include a reversing camera, lane-keeping system, automatic high beam headlights, blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, driver monitoring system, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
