Welcome to Rochester, MN! We may be a bit far north, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have good food from the south—Mexico, to be exact. When you’re cruising around town and wondering where to eat, let us help you with a few good choices when you have a hankering for Mexican food. Following are a few of our favorites in the city.

1. Tacos Mi Pueblo

A great little taqueria, Tacos Mi Pueblo serves a variety of freshly made tacos with homemade tortillas. Try a sample of several kinds and decide which is your favorite. We personally like the street tacos and the al pastor tacos with spicy red sauce. The tamales are also a good choice. Prices are very reasonable, but please remember they accept cash only.

2. Francis Tacos

This family-owned small eatery has some of the best burritos and tacos in town. At least we think so! Check them out for yourself. The sopes with carnitas is also a good choice. Be sure to ask for a side of their homemade pico de gallo to accompany your meal. They offer inexpensive meals that don’t compromise quality or freshness.

3. Taco Moreno

This quaint taco truck is a perfect stop for those late-night cravings. They offer convenience combined with flavorful food and fast service. Try the steak, barbacoa, pulled pork, or chicken tacos or burritos. They make their tortillas fresh daily and use only quality ingredients. Their food is affordable as well.

4. El Carambas

For a relaxing meal in a vibrant and colorful setting, check out this restaurant, which serves traditional favorites with plenty of seafood options. We suggest the shrimp enchiladas, the Camarones a la diabla, or anything from the combination menu. Don’t worry, vegetarians—they’ve got you covered as well! Enjoy your meal with a cold cerveza or sangria. Please remember to drink responsibly and in moderation. Do not drink and drive. Alcohol is for adults of legal drinking age only.

5. Hefe Rojo

Another good place to sit back and relax is Hefe Rojo. Enjoy the chips and housemade queso while you decide on your entree. You won’t go wrong with their fish or avocado tacos. The carne asada nachos are delicious as well and come with plenty of meat. Ask for their homemade green sauce to top your dish. The bloody Maria adult beverage is stronger than most, and hence why we like it! Don’t leave without checking out their desserts, such as flan and sopapillas.
