How to Clean and Detail Your Ford Like a Pro

While cleaning your car might seem like a simple project, the professionals use some tips and tricks to make it look and feel like new. When it comes to detailing, it's often about the little things, and it can take some time to get into all the small spaces. Check out these tips for cleaning and detailing your Ford like a pro. more Start With the Inside It's important to start with the interior. Make sure to take everything out before you begin cleaning, including the floor mats. Once the car is empty, vacuum all the surfaces from the floors to the seats. Use a lint roller to get all the pet hair or grab some duct tape, which works just as well. If you have a small hand-held vacuum, use it to get into all the small areas that a larger one can't get to. If you have cloth seats, use a stain remover with a brush to remove stains. If you have leather upholstery, use a leather cleaner and conditioner. The Windows Clean the windows using an auto glass cleaner. Don't use Windex since it has chemicals that can damage the tint. Use a newspaper to wipe and dry the windows for a streak-free finish. Detailing the Dash and Front Console Start by cleaning the dashboard, console, and steering wheel with an interior auto cleaner. You might have to use a few different cleaners, depending on the mix of materials in the car. Use Q-tips to get into the small spaces, and use a can of air to blow loose dust out of the cracks and crevices. The Exterior Once it's clean on the inside, you can move to the outside. Fill two buckets with water. Add soap designed for autos to one of them. Keep the other filled with clean water. First, rinse the outside of the car, and then take a microfiber cloth mitt to start washing from the top down. If you have stuck on bugs and debris, use tar remover to get them off. Just make sure to read the directions first and only use one that is safe and won't damage the paint. Once it's washed and rinsed, use clean microfiber cloths to dry it. The Wheels Clean the wheels with a wheel cleaner. Regular house cleaners don't have the power to cut through brake dust and grime that builds up on wheels. Use a different sponge for the wheels and put in some elbow grease to scrub them clean. Waxing and Polishing The last step is the wax. It's often overlooked, but waxing is one of the most important steps. Wax protects the exterior of the vehicle from the sun and wind, keeping it looking good for many years. Apply in a circular motion, wait for the time required in the directions, then use a circular motion again to buff it with a clean cloth. Follow these cleaning and detailing tips, and your Ford will look like new. Wash it every few weeks to make sure it stays clean and free from dirt and debris.

6 Tips for Camping at Oxbow Park

Camping is an activity that should be on everyone's bucket list. Kids will love roasting marshmallows over the fire. Adults will appreciate disconnecting from the world for a while. One of the best local places to camp near Rochester, MN is Oxbow Park. more 1. You Won't Have to Travel Far The park's location 5 miles west of Rochester means the campground is easy to get to. You won't have to spend hours fighting traffic or hike deep into the woods with a heavy pack. You simply pull up to your campsite and unload. Why should you wait to let the vacation begin? 2. Reserve Your Campsite Early The park has 30 campsites to choose from. To snag your favorite spot, visit their website early in the season. Enter the dates you want to camp in their reservation system. You may book your site for up to ten days at a time from May to October. Unsure where you want to camp? The reservation screen will show you all available campsites including a photo and a breakdown of the amenities. 3. Take Advantage of the Park's Facilities Is this your first time camping, or do you have children that might not be open to using “nature's bathroom”? Don't worry, there are plenty of facilities in the park. You will have access to bathrooms with showers, running water, and some campsites have electricity. Most campsites have a personal fire ring and a picnic table, and for large groups, picnic shelters are available. Plus three of the campsites are designated as handicap accessible. 4. Bring a Pole for Great Fishing Do you remember the good old days fishing with your dad? You can relive those memories and teach your kids because the park has a river running through it. Zumbro River is a good spot for anglers looking to land catfish, smallmouth bass, and carp. A river is also a good place for watersports such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or simply floating in an inner tube. 5. The Trails Are All-Season The park has over 10 miles of well-maintained parks for hiking. The trails are also well-marked; newbies will have no fear of wandering off the path. In the wintertime, try snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, rentals are available at the park. 6. The Zoo Is a Must-see We know that sometimes kids get bored when they don't have their gadgets. Fortunately, the park has a few diversions close-by. A playground is located on the campgrounds and Zollman Zoo is worth checking out. This great little zoo is within walking distance and features many species of native wildlife. The zoo is open from 10 AM to 4 PM daily and has made recent updates including a wolf exhibit. How to Jump-Start a Car Safely in Six Easy Steps

Even though you don't like to think about it, there's a good possibility that you'll have to know how to jump-start a car at some point in your life. Whether you leave your lights on or you need a new car battery, nearly every driver will experience a dead battery that they'll need to jump start to get their car running. Here's how to safely jump-start a vehicle. more Step 1: Park the Running Car Near the Non-Running Car Your jumper cables are pretty long, but you should still try to park the running car as close as possible to the non-running car when you're going to jump-start your vehicle. Park them nose-to-nose so that the batteries are within an arm's length distance from each other. Make sure, though, that the two cars are not touching bumpers or any other part, and once parked, turn both vehicles completely off for safety reasons. Step 2: Prepare the Cars Open the hoods of both cars and remove any caps covering the terminals of both batteries. Remember that neither car should be running at this time, and the keys should be in the "off" position. Untangle the jumper cables to ensure they're not crossing each other at any point. keep the metal clamps on each end away from each other, and be sure not to let them drop into any puddles on the ground or other wet areas. Step 3: Attach the Jumper Cable Clamps to the Batteries This is the critical part of the process. Attach the red clamp of one end of the jumper cables to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Repeat that process with the red clamp at the other end of the jumper cables by attaching it to the positive terminal of the good battery. Attach the black clamp to the negative terminal of the good battery. Attach the other black clamp to an unpainted metal screw of the dead car. Step 4: Start the Cars Start the car with the working battery first. Then, while that car is still running, start the car with the dead battery. It may take a couple of seconds to get enough charge through the battery to start the dead car, but if the battery is the problem, the vehicle will eventually start. Step 5: Remove the Cables Remove the jumper cables in the reverse order that you attached them. Start by removing the black clamp attached to the unpainted screw, then the black clamp on the good battery. Next, remove the red clamp on the good battery. Finally, remove the red clamp on the bad battery. Take care to never touch any of the clamps together during this entire process. Step 6: Keep Your Car Running Keep your car running for at least 15 minutes to allow the battery to fully charge. If your battery doesn't stay running, you could have an alternator problem, which should be checked out as soon as possible. Need a New Car Battery? Jump-starting your car is not a difficult process, but you do need to take proper safety precautions to make sure you don't create a dangerous situation. Once your battery has been revived, get it checked at an authorized service center to make sure it's still in good condition. You might need a new one. Bring your car by Rochester Ford and we'll test your battery and let you know if it needs to be replaced.
